During the holidays, you will likely eating quite a bit of sweets and fattening meals, from your big Thanksgiving dinner to treats during a cookie exchange or desserts after your holiday meal. It is good to detox your body before the holidays begin to be healthy and not have quite as big of an impact when eating less-than-healthy foods and drinks. Here are some helpful tips for detoxing your body before the holidays.
Start Working Out Regularly
If you are not exercising already on a regular basis, now is a good time to start. When you exercise and sweat, you start sweating off all those extra toxins in your body. Getting used to a regular workout routine now also helps you get accustomed to it during the holidays. Throughout the holidays, you should continue exercising as it keeps you free of toxins, but also helps you to get in shape and burn off all those extra calories you will be consuming. With proper cardio and weightlifting exercises, you won’t have to worry quite as much about eating candy during Halloween, turkey during Thanksgiving, sweets during Christmas or Hanukkah, or extra drinks during the new year.
Drink More Water Daily
Make sure you are getting an adequate amount of water each day. This is one of the most important aspects to detoxing your body before, during, and after the holiday season. A good habit to start is by adding some lemon juice to your water in the morning. You can either squeeze a full lemon into a tall glass of spring water, or make lemon-infused water. The lemon is an excellent way to detox your body. Try to drink more fruit-infused water throughout the day when detoxing before the holidays.
Eliminate One Food Vice
You will probably be eating a lot of fattening sweets and foods during the holidays, but you can ease up on what you put in your body by quitting one food vice now. Just pick any food vice and promise you won’t eat any of it now and throughout the holidays. This can be anything from potatoes to chocolate. When you have sweets during the holidays, you will need to rely on those that don’t contain chocolate, which will probably help you to curb the amount of calories and sugar you are consuming.
Detox With Your Showers
It is also possible to detox from the outside in by using your shower. To start with, get a dry skin brush and brush your skin in a circular motion, starting from your feet and working upward. This is going to help remove waste by working on your lymphatic system. It is a great practice to start right now, in addition to taking hot showers with soap or body wash that contains all natural ingredients.
